I bought my first Miata on Saturday. I found it on eBay and got what I feel was a very good price. Here are some details: 2002, 38K miles, black, 5-speed, Bilstein coil-overs, lowered, 17" ADR wheels, Kumho 205/40/17 tires, dual exhaust, BRP supercharger.
I bought it so I can improve my driving skills. I have a decent choice of cars to drive to/from work. In addition to the Miata, my regular daily drivers are a 2008 BMW 335i and a 98 Jeep Cherokee. I also have a replica of a '65 Shelby 427 Cobra (about 450HP in a 2100 pound car). It is a Factory Five that I built myself. I have way to much invested in it to take it on a track. The Miata will definitely get some track time. My wife will probably drive it about as much as I do.
Look forward to learning as much as I can about Miata's and the Miata community.
Here are some pics of my car:

Pretty Car! Have fun with it. I wish the first miata I bought had a MP62. Jealous! :D

Sweet ride! Almost makes me jealous although I most definitely prefer my British racing green (makes sense with my very English last name of Thorneycroft!). Don't need the supercharger, either, as my wife drives an Audi S4 ragtop with the 340-hp V8. She lets me borrow it when I really feel the need for speed. ;-)

P.S. The roll bars look terrific -- can anyone tell me the manufacturer? Thanks in advance.

Very nice ride. My first Miata is also powered by an MP62. They sure are a blast to get sideways!!

The "roll bars" are actually "style bars", and look very much like the product from
Frenzy, or the full-recline model from Racing Beat, see here: http://www.racingbeat.com/FRmiata.htm
Prepare for another round in the roll bar vs. style bar ongoing "dialogue".
Other than that, great looking car, congrats!

The miata looks great, but can we see some pictures of the shelby?

Ahhhhh, Diego. Lived there from '91 - '04 (Clairemont, then University City) while my wife was in grad school @ UCSD and, later, doing a post-doc and her first professional science job. Great town, the food just got better & better. (As the traff*ck got worse & worse.)
Yeah, I think I found them -- or something similar -- on the gomiata site and completely lost interest upon learning they're cosmetic only. Still need a soft-top boot, though...

dalancroft,
I fought through 40 minutes of traffic to go down to Imperial Beach for some
great Mexican food at Jalisco's. Fabulous Chicken Enchiladas Suizas. They
were the size of burritos, and I am still stuffed from lunch!

Thanks for the welcome! I like the looks of the 'style bar', but it is going to be on craigslist pretty soon. I want to get some real roll-over protection.
Here are a couple shots of my 'Cobra'.

when you "learn to drive" the miata, take the cobra's engine and stuff it in:jump:

That cobra is beautiful. I rode in a replica similar to that once, and it was amazing. Really. One day though, the miata's gonna get an lsx. One day. haha. Nice car.

That's a trade I'd make almost anytime -- anytime I wasn't in a hurry, that is. Isn't IB where they have the big sand castle contest? I took my then-4-year-old daughter the last year we lived there and it was amazing not to mention great fun.
